During his early years, he attended Sunday School, BTU, and midweek youth Bible training. Whereby, the seeds for preaching were sowed. September 1998, Bro. Mitchell preached his first sermon under the leadership of Pastor L. W. White at New Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 16 years-old.
Within two years, He enrolled at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (Belton, TX). While attending UMHB, Minister Mitchell played football and became a leader of the team as he started at running back. Additionally, he continued to sharpen his biblical and preaching skills while at the college. During this time, he fellowshipped with Seed of Faith and Magnolia Baptist Church whereas Pastor D. Moye, Sr. and D. Norman, Sr. respectively pastored. Upon completion of coursework, Minister Mitchell received an undergraduate BA and minor in religious studies/psychology. At that time, he relocated to Brenham, TX, and he began working for Brazos Valley MHMR. After a year, Minister Mitchell became teacher/coach for Brenham ISD.

His faithfulness to the Church and his wonderful family. Because on November 13, 2004, Minister Mitchell married Kenya A. Edwards, who has begun her preaching ministry, daughter of Pastor Artis, Sr. and Wendy Edwards. This union was because of love at first sight, and God’s divine purpose. Within the 14 years of marriage, the couple birthed Kevin, 2nd and Kennedi which Kevin 2nd aspires to become a paleontologist (studier of dinosaurs) and Kennedi is the theatrical performer.
Minister Mitchell served faithfully under Pastor Edwards beginning at New Hope and as well, New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church. During this time, under the guidance of Pastor Edwards, Minister Mitchell’s preaching and teaching skills grew. Additionally, Pastor Edwards bestowed leadership knowledge and wisdom concerning the Church. Furthermore, he enrolled at Grand Canyon University (Phoenix, AR) and completed a graduate degree in Christian Studies emphasis upon Pastoral Ministry. Currently, Minister Mitchell continues to take courses through GCU as he works toward a doctoral degree in the field of education for Organizational Leadership EC-12.
Minister Mitchell is grateful to God for choosing him through the congregation to become the pastor of Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church. In recent history, Minister Mitchell adopted a mantra with a single word, “Embrace…” Thus, as his family’s pastoral journey begins with the Goodwill family, Pastor Mitchell intends to “Embrace God and the congregation with the fullness of his heart.” Whereby, Goodwill MBC becomes the place where people are as Pastor Mitchell says, Learning to Live Righteously!
